Burmese foods contaminated?

Well, Someone might say I am fussy. But I am not really a fan of Burmese preserved food while here in Britain I can get a variety of fresh foods easily. You may say I was raised with those Burmese foods when I was young. Yes, exactly I was. But, people may change from time to time according to their experience, education and environment. I don't think Burmese foods are much superior than others after trying several world foods. No , I am not saying Burmese foods are not good. These are really fine foods according to Indian friends.

A few years ago, a lady lived in my home who just arrived from Burma. A few weeks later, she looked depressed , saying that she had been missing proper Burmese foods. We tried to cook for her a couple of times. I think rice and chicken curry . But her response was what I did not expect. She said it did not look like Burmese curry. Since then I could not help her any more. That lady went back to Burma in next a few weeks. Of course, her family was running a Burmese restaurant down town Yangon, later I learnt that. I still don't get it why she was expecting to stay and eat exactly as she was in Burma even after deciding to come to the western Europe. Basically, strong but flexible and adaptable people survive in the UK according to my knowledge.

The following is an interesting news about Burmese tea leave prickles.

Of course

When I was in Burma, I tried most famous foods in capital and outside . Myin Thar ၀က္သားတုတ္ထိုး is much better than တရုတ္တန္းက ၀က္သားတုတ္ထိုး to me.

NO အင္းယားလမ္း မျဖဴ မုန္ ့ဟင္းခါး. ~For me, after drinking 2 shots of rum in hot evening, Khin Htwe Yi မုန္ ့ဟင္းခါး is the best.

No လသာလမ္း ေၾကးအိုး. but Shwe taung dan ေၾကးအိုး

Rice porridge from 20th street.

I ate Kyet Shar Soon Dan Pauk ( Biryani) at least once a week

Shwe Be' Roast duck? of course at least twice a month.

But but, once arrived in england, I forgot everything. Now i like roast turkey, Cumbrian sausage, Yorkshire pudding. roe and chips or skates and chips, and .....

it is me. I change easily.

Just dropping by to say Hi. You said "I don't think Burmese foods are much superior than others after trying several world foods" and I have to agree with this though I've tried much of Int'l foods. I feel that Burmese Food are not well known to the world and may be cos of its lack of creativity.

Well Burmese curries are nice. Less strong and less seasoning powders compared with Indians foods despite its similar appearance. That is the reason I think many people appreciate that it is nice. For me still strong taste and smell. 4 years ago, I had a lunch in North London monastery where I struggled to finish one plate of rice and a variety of curries as taste was divergent. I feel my taste bulbs have changed. It is beyond my reach. I believe if I visit Burma, I need to cook my foods myself :)

Yes, Burmese foods mainly by cooking and frying . No roasting, no oven bake. so many limitations. Yes i think some Burmese tradition grill foods available.
