(ေကာင္းကင္ကို)

Steve was born in Burma. Graduated in Burma. I did not come here for that purpose. My seniors are not Burmese. My juniors are British. Did I come here as a slave? :) . A slave has the right to go anywhere he wants during a holiday? A slave has the right to run a company? A slave has the right to buy properties? A slave has the right to own a BMW? Well, if you are weak enough, you have to serve me, regardless of your ethnicity and nationality. If I am weak, I will serve you. Simple, isn't it? don't blame any body. You create your life. You create your fortune.

Well, if you still want to stay as a slave, it's up to you, mate! No need to compose a poem.

I don't agree this poem at all.

It's ridiculous.. I don't know what is his purpose to compose this poem.

''You create your life. You create your fortune.''

This is death true!!

Well.. i do think it's a bit dramatic. But poems are meant as dramatic outlets, aren't they?

I know of some illegal burmese immigrants who work in Malaysia rubber plantations. Circumstances can drive people to desperation. While it's true that we reap what we sow, there are unfortunate people who get exploited, and not see a way out.

So I can accept that this person maybe bitter about his situation. But it shouldn't warrant people passing it around the internet as though it is the work of a revolutionary.

Also.. this person may have written it just at that moment when he was feeling particularly down and out. Haven't we all had moments like that? I have, and I consider myself a fortunate, happy person 99% of the time.

I have been waiting for such an educated comment. Thanks.

Well I know about the situation of Burmese people across the world. What I meant was a toxic component of the poem. I believe it has been misleading.

I must admit I were not be in a good time 100%. I needed to fight. I needed to struggle. If I failed, it would be my own weakness. No point to blame own people (Burmese never been slave at all) , No point to blame system. In stead, you must be able to adapt yourself. You must prepare yourself using your mental power, will power, financial power, thinking power and varieties of powers available.

That was I tried to say before . Thanks again Mae.

One more thing. Real depressed people unable to compose poem. So long as composing a poem, not depressed. You know I am just a medical doctor, but also specializing sociology and psychiatry as my hobby.

hamm!!! pity composer. I can see the inferiority complex and grass roots of composer.
He seems neither knowledgable nor educational about slavery and colonialism.
This poem doesn't imply all Burmese people though it could be possible for some people who have been victims of human trafficking, working as indentured labours or displaced workers.

You're most welcome.. And it's not that I don't get your point.

I just "empathise" because I personally have composed proses and poems that made me sound like the most unfortunate person in the world, and if other people were to read them, they'd find it utterly unbelievable.

I think the arts tend to be highly exaggerated interpretations of the daily grind, usually expressed when someone is in a bad mood; how many famous classic poems/plays are intrinsically happy?

But sometimes, these things get worshipped, especially in this internet age, like some sort of holy grail, and can be a negative influence. On the other hand, if people can't recognise the drama for what it is, too bad for them.

So .. I accept the poem for what it is, someone's emotional outlet. But, to me, it's just that. It's not going to be the trigger that starts a revolution.

Like you, I'm also of the thinking that life is what we make of it. When I was young, my dad always told me: "ကံ"ဆုိတဲ့ စကားလုံးက "ကမၼ"ကလာတာ၊ "ကမၼ"ဆုိတာ ပါဋိလုိ အလုပ္၊ အဓိပၸယ္က ကုိယ့္ကံကုိ ကုိယ္ဖန္တီးတာပါ၊

I believe we should not blame the composers. I don't see in any ways that he is trying to represent all burmese working professionals around the world. He is just trying to express as a one of victims who is most probably human-trafficked and living his/her life miserably as an illegal immigrant. As such, no law will protect him/her and he is definitely living like a slave.

but frankly speaking, i don't like to read this poems.
